Terrain & Scouting Report
A series of seven wilderness islands (Thompson, Courson, and others) located between Buckaloons and Tionesta. These islands feature old-growth sycamore and silver maple bottomlands that serve as nocturnal sanctuaries for wildlife escaping mainland pressure.
Recommended Tactics
Strictly boat-access. Float in silently 2 hours before dawn. Focus on the downstream "tails" of the islands where silt buildup creates thick brushy bedding areas. Deer treat these as sanctuary spots when mainland pressure increases. Focus on the river eddies and the lee side of the islands during high water or when smaller ponds freeze over. "Jump shooting" from a kayak is a highly effective late-season tactic here.
