Cook Forest State Park

State Forest | Clarion/Forest/Jefferson County
Primary Target Species White-tailed Deer, Wild Turkey, Gray Squirrel, Raccoon

Terrain & Scouting Report

Famous for its "Cathedral Forest" of old-growth timber. Designated hunting areas allow access to river-bottom habitats and steep, wooded hillsides along the Clarion River.

Recommended Tactics

Focus on the steep benches overlooking the Clarion River. Deer use these benches as travel corridors. The old-growth canopy produces significant mast crops (acorns/beech nuts) even when younger forests have a fail year.
