Lyme Timber
Private Cooperator | McKean/Cameron/Elk County
Primary Target Species
White-tailed Deer, Black Bear, Wild Turkey, Elk (in specific zones), Ruffed Grouse
Terrain & Scouting Report
Large-scale industrial timber tracts enrolled in the PGC Hunter Access program. These lands are managed for high-volume timber production, creating massive areas of early-successional habitat (clear-cuts) across McKean, Cameron, and Elk counties.
Recommended Tactics
The "Cut-Edge" Strategy. Lyme Timber lands are often defined by fresh clear-cuts. Locate the edges where a 2-3 year old cut meets older standing timber. Deer will bed in the thick regrowth and emerge at dusk to feed on the edges. These are prime areas for glassing with binoculars.
