Oil Creek State Park
State Forest | Venango County
Primary Target Species
White-tailed Deer, Wild Turkey, Gray Squirrel, Cottontail Rabbit, Woodcock
Terrain & Scouting Report
Located in the steep, wooded hills of the Oil Creek valley. The park features designated hunting areas that follow the dramatic topography of the creek, with numerous side-hollows and old oil-field infrastructure hidden in the woods.
Recommended Tactics
The "Bench Intercept." The valley walls are a series of natural benches. Deer travel these horizontal paths between the valley floor and the top plateaus. Use the park’s hiking or bike trails to access the interior, then climb to a mid-slope bench to catch deer moving parallel to the creek.
