SGL 120
SGL | Warren County
Primary Target Species
White-tailed Deer, Wild Turkey, Gray Squirrel, Raccoon, Waterfowl
Terrain & Scouting Report
A fragmented Game Land tract located along the Allegheny River south of Warren. It consists of river-bottom flats and steep side-hills with a mix of hardwoods and thick river-brush.
Recommended Tactics
The "River Corridor" tactic. Deer use these fragmented tracts as travel stop-overs along the river. Because the tracts are smaller, they can be effectively driven with 2-3 hunters. Focus on the thickest cover closest to the water’s edge. Focus on the river eddies and the lee side of the islands during high water or when smaller ponds freeze over. "Jump shooting" from a kayak is a highly effective late-season tactic here.
