SGL 130
SGL | Mercer/Venango CountyTerrain & Scouting Report
A large tract exceeding 3,000 acres featuring a significant mix of wetland, thick brush, and upland hardwoods. It offers diverse hunting opportunities from waterfowl to big game.
Recommended Tactics
The "Brush-Line" hunt. Because of the heavy wetland and brush cover, deer feel very secure here. Locate the "edges" where the PGC has managed openings for pheasants. Deer will often skirt these openings just inside the brush line during the early morning hours. Work the switchgrass plantings and brushy bottomlands where PGC stocks birds throughout the season. This is a PGC pheasant stocking area. Focus on the maintained herbaceous openings and brushy field edges where birds are released throughout the season.
