Terrain & Scouting Report

Commonly known as the Triumph Hill or Pittsfield tract, this 8,116-acre Game Land consists of steep river hills overlooking the Allegheny River. It is characterized by deep, shadowed hollows and heavy hemlock cover.

Recommended Tactics

The "Bear Sanctuary" Tactic. During the early bear seasons, focus on the north-facing slopes and thick hemlock drainages. These areas stay significantly cooler and provide the preferred bedding for bears. For deer, hunt the "points" of the ridges where you can over-watch multiple downhill trails. Work the switchgrass plantings and brushy bottomlands where PGC stocks birds throughout the season. This is a PGC pheasant stocking area. Focus on the maintained herbaceous openings and brushy field edges where birds are released throughout the season.
