Recommended Tactics
The "Woodlot Squeeze." Because it is surrounded by private corn and soy fields, this SGL acts as a "bedroom" for deer. Set up 100 yards inside the SGL boundary to catch them returning from the fields at first light. It is also a premier early-season spot for local mallards and wood ducks. This is a PGC pheasant stocking area. Focus on the maintained herbaceous openings and brushy field edges where birds are released throughout the season. Prime waterfowl destination. Use the "Marsh-Edge" approach: set up decoys in the managed impoundments. Early season is best for Woodies; late season for Mallards.
