Terrain & Scouting Report

A 9,800-acre contiguous tract bordering Chapman State Park and the ANF. It is 93% forested and known for its rugged "bench" topography and vast stands of mast-producing hardwoods.

Recommended Tactics

Focus on "Benches." These natural road-like passages on the hillsides are primary travel routes. Set up on the high side of a bench during morning rising thermals, and the low side during evening falling thermals. The higher elevations also hold small populations of snowshoe hares in the thickest laurel. Work the switchgrass plantings and brushy bottomlands where PGC stocks birds throughout the season. This is a PGC pheasant stocking area. Focus on the maintained herbaceous openings and brushy field edges where birds are released throughout the season.
