Terrain & Scouting Report
A 4,000-acre remnant of the original forest that once covered the Allegheny Plateau. It contains some of the oldest timber in the ANF, featuring massive hemlocks and beeches that are centuries old.
Recommended Tactics
The "Old-Growth Mast" strategy. Because this area contains ancient timber, it is a consistent producer of heavy nut crops. In years where younger forests have a "poor mast" crop, these old trees act as a magnet. Focus on the massive beech stands when the nuts are dropping in October for world-class squirrel and bear hunting.
