Appearance & Identification
Large, long-necked duck with a sloping profile and a white body contrasted by a reddish-brown head and black chest.
Preferred Habitat
Deep, open water of the Allegheny Reservoir and the river below the dam.
Seasonal Behavior
Known as the "King of Ducks" for its speed. Often rafts in large numbers on open water to avoid shore-bound predators.
Recommended Tactics
Layout boats or rocky points on the reservoir. They are attracted to large, high-visibility white decoy spreads.
