Appearance & Identification
Highly ornate, colorful crest.
Preferred Habitat
Swamps, flooded timber, and small beaver ponds.
Seasonal Behavior
Extremely agile fliers. They are among the first to migrate south when the first skim of ice hits the Allegheny plateau.
Recommended Tactics
Small spreads in flooded timber. Calling should be soft "whistles" rather than loud mallard quacks.
